I tried it -- the Tyco "split rail" saddle. It was not comfortable, nor
durable. I sent it back for a refund.

You may, of course, be talking about a completely different saddle, but
this one was two piece. BTW, there is no reason why being split in half
would necessarily make it comfortable. Besides, each person's behind is
different.

This is on the premise that the pelvis is made of two parts that
rotate with the stride of the legs. I'm sure the people who make this
thing know that isn't true and that the legs are attached at the
outsides of the pelvis through the hips that do not contact bicycle
saddles. Beyond that, the nose on a bicycle saddle has been there
from the earliest bicycles for a reason, that of lateral hold on the
saddle when pushing hard on one pedal.

What you saw is a scam.

I tried the two-piece saddle because I get a sore "bum," too, when I
ride more than a few miles and thought it might provide relief for my
sit bones. So, I tried the two-piece saddle and couldn't even keep my
balance! I immediately returned it to the LBS. The LBS let me borrow
it before purchase, so I didn't need a refund.

I felt quite disoriented and like a kid riding a bike for the first
time! I had a great sense of loss of control when it came to riding my
bike with that funny two-piece saddle. Now I know I need "real" saddle
to lean against and grip between my legs to maintain balance whilst on
the bike.
