Looks good. I think your Don'ts would stand out more if they were done in red as well as bold. I
also think there might be a typo here: "Shoes need to have proper soles with some crip"

Some pictures would be good, for example a picture of the right way to wear a helmet, and perhaps
something like this on how to tuck laces in:

A year or so ago I picked up a copy of the kids' equivalent of Cyclecraft, "Keep on the Safe Side: A
handbook for young cyclists", published by HMSO in 1989. Might be one to add to the reading list. I
doubt it's still in print and I certainly think there's scope for a new book like this. Perhaps in
time you could develop your guidelines into a book, or at least a pamphlet?

Looks good. I find the title page incredibly perky, but then I'm well above the target age.

Maybe you don't really want to talk about passing traffic queues in your guide. It's something that
takes a bit of skill to judge when it's possible and skill to keep a good straight line while always
ready to dive left. Or maybe I just suffer from narrow roads.

Otherwise I'm enjoying it.

There's one rule missed r.e. ASL's. If a car wanders into it, cross the ASL by the same distance,
get in the middle, don't rush off from the lights.

skills are somewhere between execrable and non-existent.

Maybe show the primary and secondary riding positions with pictures of where the primary should
be adopted.

It appears to be too 'wordy'. What is needed is the basic points as single sentences backed up with
clear drawings (a bit like airline 'what to do if we crash' cards.)

Ideally a good and two bad pictures, the first showing the bad, the second showing the consequences.

Key things:

dangly clothes/bags are bad well packed clothes are good.

Riding along side busses/lorries is very bad

Car doors

pulling out without looking/ signalling

move right before turning right

riding in the gutter at pinch points

riding without lights at night

That is quite possibly enough for a page on cycle technique.

For bike technical checks:

brakes that work

tyres pumped up (picture of cyclist struggling with lots of uncomfortable road vibration vs happy
fast cyclist.)

generally sound (picture of cyclist in wreckage after bike does a collapse.)

This should all fit onto one double sided A4 sheet.

As far as I know, yes, but Your Mozilla May Vary.

The only issue with a plain HTML version is the time it would take me to code the plain HTML. My
hosting is Slartibartfast, the server under the stairs. Perhaps I should rename it Nugent :-)

More than happy to offer my services, being a lazy student and everything.

Don't know if it's any help Guy, but Wiltshire County Council are in the process of making a similar
sort of thing to be distributed around the area.(see the cycling forum was useful)

Working for the evil ones(halfords) i may be able to come up with some pictures of mangled
bikes etc.

Danny, thank you. I got one from Amazon - it is a superb little book. A shame it's out of print.
What's the betting the Liddites get to the next version? Certainly the foreword would be
unacceptable to the True Believers:
