ISO 406 mm rear wheels on a low racer." and then follow it up with some
remark about where the poster is from or their ethnicity, political views,
or gender. Then you've trolled.

What if there was a poster who was a true expert on the newsgroup
subject (to the point of having done original research and publishing
a book on an important subtopic) who has posted thousands of relevant
and useful posts. Yet this same poster can also turn into a bully,
putting down those he disagrees with in an acerbic, derogatory and/or
sarcastic manner. Would this person be banned from this "low
moderation" newsgroup?

Note: Any resemblance to a real life person is not coincidental.

Everything is in ideal shape-both tie-rods are tight and straight, and
all 4 locks never loosen. I believe that it might be the folding
frame joints moving. One large attachment is the hinge, and the other
is similar to a stove bolt to hold it when swung out to ride. I
suspect that stove bolt might be moving. Being so new- it makes no
sense to me about worn or crooked parts that work fine one minute and
act up in a few more minutes.

When folded, the tie rods must be disconnected, so Loc-Tite is out!
The heim joints are attached with a bolt and butterfly nut for easy
removal when folding and rarely vibrates loose, and if so, a quick
twist is easy. I suspected them first, and tested them loose and
tight- same alignment. Just a mystery! Nice looking mystery though,
I think! ;-)

I have several factory photos of this trike, but only 2 of my trike
(which are useless for close-up front end mechanics). The factory web
site will probably have more photos- JM Recumbents (I do not have the
URL handy). On the site is a comment that this trike will be tested
by BROL. Someday!

Personally I don't care who he or she is and how much they know. I would
expect that they should and must follow proper decorum as everyone else.
Let's face it, there are rude and abusive people everywhere, but that
doesn't mean that we have to accept that form of behavior. BROL is
moderated and it works very well, what makes this any different? I
believe in free speech! But how you use that right depends on each
individual case. I don't care if someone doesn't agree with me but I
don't have to take verbal abuse, and neither should anyone else.

It's all subjective as to who/waht etc. is a troll. However, if
there's someone who you feel is a PITA and does ARBR harm, and
repsonding to them only encourages them to continue to be a PITA
and cause ARBR harm, if you want ARBR to be a viable, useful place
it's probably a good idea not to respond to them.

Just act in your longer term self-interest. Nothing more, nothing
less.

Personally, I've never been for banning anyone. I think that ignoring the
trolls and keeping up the on-topic conversation is just fine. I don't know
anything about who would be banned from what.

What I do know is that if the person is a bully and is acerbic and
derogatory, then they are engaging in troll behavior.

I'm just a fat old guy and sixty mile rides are something I fondly remember
doing in the distant past. While my mind is willing the body isn't quite up
to the task anymore. Beside in these parts it's still mostly frigid and
buying enough hand/foot warmers to completely cover my body with chemical
heaters would deplete the 'daddy needs new Stelvios' fund.

I might get out and endure the wonders of global warming for a half hour or
fortyfive minutes to have an excuse to not ride the trainer and further
damage my brain due to excessive exposure to daytime t.v. Frozen extremeties
are preferable to dead brain cells.

Seriously, I don't see a lot of people my size (~225-235) who like to ride
long distance. I was just wondering how true that is. I think a lot of what
people may attribute to age and weight has more to do with life outlook,
etc. That's all I was fishing for.

I'm in that ball park and only 5'6" and I've always ridden long distances
back in the days when I could ride. Metrc centuries were the idea length
for me. When I did the rail trails back in 2005, 40-45 miles seemed like a
good day.

I didn't go fast but I always could go far....

Interestingly, John Wayne made the comment, "Never apologize, it's a
sign of weakness' in one of the Ford movies in the middle of his long
career ("She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Nathan Brittles), but he apologizes
in his last movie, The Shootist, to Lauren Bacall. So even John Wayne
doesn't really pay attention to the line in one of his five best roles
(as was Nathan Brittles IMO and in balance).
