Triple Clamp Fork Stem Question

It is about 1/4" too short. The top clamping bolt (on my current stem) it
barely clamping on it.

Yep, it will work. With certain caveats.

1. It will be heavy.
2. You'll be restricted on lengths and rises.
3. You will need a 22.2mm diameter bar.

Nope. MTB bars are mostly 25.4mm. I'm running a set of old Answer bars
(Hyperlites / Alumilites?) with the shim removed.

Take a look at the Atomic Lab Aircorp Stem. It has a smallish BMX like
clamping area and works with standard MTB bars. It's the only thing I'd
recommend from them however. Their rims, hubs and pedals are [censored].

Take a look at the Atomic Lab Aircorp Stem. It has a smallish BMX like
clamping area and works with standard MTB bars. It's the only thing I'd
recommend from them however. Their rims, hubs and pedals are [censored].

Marvin Lotterle.

didn't like the shortness of the cockpit.

Every pair I've seen after a few months of riding needed new bearings. The
platform was rattling around on the spindle. Granted the platform was
really well designed and provided excellent grip.

I've been using a set on a BMX for about two years, still spinning smooth.
They don't give as much grip as the Eastons on my MTB but that is one reason
why I went for these, sometimes you need a exit a BMX pretty quick.
