    My steerer tube is a little short (but just makes it) with
    my Azionic Shorty stem. Is it OK to use a BMX stem. I saw
    one that takes less steerer tube to clamp and was thinking
    of changing. Any words of advice? Good or bad?

    How short is it (your steerer)? What are you using as a
    reference point?

    And what fork and BMX stem are we talking bout here?

    It is about 1/4" too short. The top clamping bolt (on my
    current stem) it barely clamping on it.

    Yep, it will work. With certain caveats.

    1. It will be heavy.
    2. You'll be restricted on lengths and rises.
    3. You will need a 22.2mm diameter bar.

    Not good. I definitely wouldn't use it either.

    Nope. MTB bars are mostly 25.4mm. I'm running a set of
    old Answer bars (Hyperlites / Alumilites?) with the
    shim removed.

    I don't know that is why I am asking. I would put that stem

    Take a look at the Atomic Lab Aircorp Stem. It has a
    smallish BMX like clamping area and works with standard MTB
    bars. It's the only thing I'd recommend from them however.
    Their rims, hubs and pedals are [censored].

    smallish BMX like clamping area and works with standard
    MTB bars. It's the only thing I'd recommend from them
    however. Their rims, hubs and pedals are [censored].

    Everything will work out. Been there done that. But didn't
    like the shortness of the cockpit.

    Every pair I've seen after a few months of riding needed new
    bearings. The platform was rattling around on the spindle.
    Granted the platform was really well designed and provided
    excellent grip.

    I've been using a set on a BMX for about two years, still
    spinning smooth. They don't give as much grip as the Eastons
    on my MTB but that is one reason why I went for these,
    sometimes you need a exit a BMX pretty quick.
