I'm interested in hearing from anyone that might be able to help with useful hints, information from their experiences on long bike trips. I've just in the last couple of days decided to take a trip around Australia on bicycle myself. Unfortunately due to commitements unless some big sponsor comes onboard ( GRIN ) it will be probably at least a few years away.. possibly as long as 2008.. but I'm starting to gather information ideas.. hopfully a sponsor or two.. and starting to buy equipment.. so any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated..

By yourself a book called Shimmering Spokes by Richard Allen. Richard cycled around Aus. to raise money for cancer research. It's all there in respect to distances and heat and back up needed etc.
Hi Greg, check out this link, a friend of ours, Simon pedalled around Australia on a Trisled recumbent during 2002-2003, a amazing amount of information and knowledge in this on-line journal:
Thank you for taking time out to give me some hints. Much appreciated. Have you done any distance cycling yourself?
I'm looking forward to the challenge just hoping to depart sooner than I expect.. impatient. 🙂
Regards Greg

Bummer! Are you insured? If you are and you claim, I'd be interested to know how it turns out - I'm sorting out my contents insurance right now and I'm not liking insurance companies much!

Thanks. No cycle stuff was robbed. As I own my whole business and was robbed there just before closing time. Appreciate the good wishes. The police don't expect me to see the laptop again. But you never know..

Unfortunately I was robbed at my shop just before closing time. And insurance won't pay anything. If they'd smashed there way in after hours I would of been covered. But seeing the two people got me while open. I lose out. And I know what you mean about insurance companies, had a bad experience with a car accident many years ago now but took eight months before they paid us.
