  1. Did you guys see the article in Oct. Readers digest. This girl was swim training off the beach and
was attacked by a tiger shark. Guy on a bogie board helped her and brought her in. They had to
reatach her hand. Some of you may even know her. Hope she recovers well. Can't say this possibility
hasn't entered my mind on some of those beach swims! VL

I think we've all had the possibility of being on the food chain cross our minds while open water
swimming on occasion. Of course, I've also had the much more likely possibility of being rear-ended
by a car cross my mind while cycling.

Several times I've been swimming along and had a pilot fish attach to my side. I always wonder what
the little guy had hitched a ride on right before me...

My concern is being dog food while running!

Can't imagine a pilot fish attaching to my side while swimming. I think

happening it would be OK. For sure he much more present danger is cars, there are a couple of roads
around here (NC) where bikers have been killed, I'm guessing the same in most areas. And I don't
know why but dogs seem to be more of an issue when I'm on the bike than when I'm running. Maybe they
think anything going that slow can't be a threat!

Out your way sort of, it was in Maui. The article says she is the 34 year old CEO of a San Deigo
    credit union. VL

Oh, I thought this was new. If it's this story, then it happened in 2002:

    the.honoluluadvertiser.comln05a.html

Susan in LA (like to keep current on my shark-attack stories)

Yep, that's it. I didn't really realize that the story was that old or that they had that many
attacks out there. I guess 6 attacks a year is statistically small and makes an attack rare. But
still more than I would have thought. Good idea to keep up with those stories 😉 VL
