Hey Potter, you may want to start saving up for some new pedals now.
Bulletproofs will ethier have the pins push through quickly or on hard
pedalgrabs the pedal body will shatter rendering one side of the pedal
useless. This is just my experience. I used to run sun zuzu pedals (same
as bulletproofs except with a few more pins and sealed bearings), and
one of them shattered so one side of the pedal became useless🙁 . Just a
warning. Mabey mine were just a bad set. Good luck.
I second the Snafus. I don't think they have phenominal grip after
riding a set of wellgo b-37s and a set of eastons, but they are
extremely durable. I've shattered two pedal bodies (one at a support
arch so the pedal was still kinda useable, and another at the inside
bearing, so the pedal was shot [both were of the bulletproof design]),
and the snafus have held up great. Some of the pins have come out, but
after a bunch of grinds on concrete, hard pedalgaps onto concrete, and
other abusive stuff. The bearings are only slightly loose, and are still
completely functional. The grip is good enough that your foot rarely
slips off in normal situations, and if it does it would've on any other
pedal. Also, it's easier to adjust the position of your foot on the
snafus bevcause of the slightly reduced grip. Also, snafus have no
center pins so they grab fences, rails, and skinnies really well. Not to
mention, Kris Holm and Ryan Atkins (not any more, as far as I know, he
now uses odyssey jim clechinki pedals) both ride snafus.
Whatever you do, don't waste money on sealed bearings. In the middle of
a ride on SUnday Mike middleton's $100 easton pedal (it was used and
given to me who then gave it to Mike, so it really was no loss since it
was free) had it's bearings simply dissolve. The pedal just fell off the
spindle. Upon further inspection we found that the balls inside the
bearings were about 1/2mm in diameter. Way too small for trials abuse.
For contrfast, the balls in the bearings in my snafu pedals are around
3-4mm in diameter. Also the bearing races on un-sealed pedals are much
more durable.
My $0.02

Don't you think it's a cruel irony that acting like a G.I. Joe in the
army can get you a Medal, while playing with one can get you thrown
out?
