Are the new 2005 frames weak or badly designed? If the frame is no good then I won't bother to put an expensive
fork

Thanks.
you could always refer back to JD's posts.

Any time. There's not the elevation gain or length that you're used to but
you can piece a fun 15-20 mile ride in with the different trail options. I
bet the LoSoCal boys would venture north as well.

It rides very well. What is the best way to lighten the bike?
take off the seat and handlebars ;-) then you're good.
only kidding...lighter bars, seat, post, stem, pedals. do away with any bar ends if you don't need 'em. shedding 2 lbs isn't too extreme so it should be relatively painless. then there's the derailleurs if you really want to go crazy. definitely go with lighter tubes + tires if you're still a fraction heavier than you want to be.
I'm not sure what the fork on that model weighs in at either. you might want to check it out before you get too swap-happy.

I'll have a think about the wheels first and see how that goes.
Cheers
Tony
just IMHO but I'd say not that cost effective....wait until they go bad
or you need a new wheelset, then buy something a little lighter.
