Value for money? hopefully ill be importing mine from the states to save a lot of money 🙂 going for trek 1500 i think, save about £600 by buying from america, so at the american prices do you reckon there good value for money, i reckon they look top notch, but maybe not?!?
ill be bringning it in myself by plane and ill be able to get the bike fitted properly etc, also any ideas if ill have to pay import duty and VAT when bringing the bike in? ill also be bringing an ipod but i can get that through without paying 😄
The 1500 is a pretty good ride, component mix is descent I would rather have either all 105s or ultegra. As a stock bike it comes with 105 levers, tiagra front deraileur, and ultegra rear, crank size becareful you don't get a 170. If you're getting it from the U.S. what are you paying in US $. The retail on the bike as mentioned is $1100 U.S. I can probably find it for a little less.
I love my 1500. This is my first road bike and I'm 6ft, 295lbs. I've logged over 600 miles and I'm very pleased.

My daughter and I conspired to get my son-in-law an '05 1500 about a month ago. He hasn't stopped riding it yet. Over Christmas I got him up from Austin so that I could ride it. I was seriously impressed. It is really a very nice bike. His has 105 all around, except for an Ultegra rear derailleur, and a pretty solid blend of Bontrager components. It is light, responsive with a fast but forgiving ride. It was well worth the money, especially considering the deal that he drove with his LBS. The best part is that now there is another rider in the family too. 😎

Trek makes great bikes and has excellent service. Just make sure you get properly fitted.
Uh oh... TrekDedicated is going to say something bad about Trek.
I own a Trek 1500 if you've read the above post...
As of late, my derailleurs/chain/cogs are all messed, my LBS said that some of the Treks have problems with chain alignment or something along that nature. It's kind of pissing me off because it has worn down my bascially brand new crank sets and all components around it.
