Hello all,
I'm new to the forums so hello 🙂
I have been lifting weights and on my weightlifting "off" days I decided I would like to cycle on a real bike rather than the gym bike. I have also been considering getting into some cycle-thons (Is that what they are called?).
Today I started my shopping and I am now trying to research. I looked at a Trek 7.3FX and wow was I impressed. The price tag was 680ish which means the timing will have to be right but the bike overall seems to be perfect. I'm not really into any off road riding and plan on finding safe routes around my hometown to do the most of my riding.
I have read that the 7.3 rides a little rough and some recommend the 7.5. I am hoping to start with around 30 minute road rides and maybe in the future venture into an hour or so. I'm unsure at this point if I can find an hours worth of safe riding in my area.
I checked craigslist and it seems these bikes aren't easy to find used.
Here are my questions:
For a beginner with intentions of possibly fitting in a cycle thon is this bike a good start?
Should I spend even more and get a 7.5?
Is there cheaper alternatives?
