  1. Hey everyone first post,
I just picked up a new 2003 Trek 6700 with the Disc brake option from a local bike shop. Got it for $599.99.
Just curious to whatcha all think of the deal there?
I thought it was a hell of a deal, although probably a bit more bike then I need.
Ive always wanted a nice mountain bike, and to tell ya the truth, havent been on one in a few years, but ive had the itch lately and said hell with it!
I will be doing most of my riding locally, and few local trails, nothing to crazy.
They showed me the 4500, but just couldnt get over the mark down on the 6700 with discs.
    So whatcha think? Good deal?
    Thanks😎

retail, $769 Looks like a decent starter HT, but watch out for chain suck
    with those bontrager cranks.

But go ride the hell out of it.

OH NO! YOU DIDN'T! My god why didn't you ask here BEFORE you bought.
Why do you think a 2003 model was still on the floor when the *2005s*
    were on the way.
    Oh the humanity.

I think trek bikes are garbage and your asking for post-purchase
    justification is lame.

Just ride and have fun. Our opinions shouldn't have any impact on your ability to do that.

BTW: read the FAQ and take the critcism with a grain (or two) of salt or a dram or two of scotch...

Exactly like Penny stated those (Trek) bikes are famous for chainsuck, but you'll still have fun, hopefully...

Are those not Shimano cranks on the 6700??? Anyway, chainsuck is a problem
    regardless.

But I knew it was the chainrings not the bike.

  8. Thanks all for the warm welcome! 😉
Anyways, I dont care if its old, hehe, i went lookin for an old model with a deal, from the looks of it, retail was quite a bit higher with the disc brakes.
    Ahh well, will enjoy.
    Thanks for the laughs!

Enjoy it! I can't speak specifically about the 6700, but my wife and I have
had four Trek products (Trek 8000 hardtail, Trek 2120 Road bike, wife's very
nice hybrid - don't remember the number, and the LeMond Wazata) and have really
enjoyed them. Good customer support too. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another
    Trek product.
