Trek 5000 whooshing sound

I get all kinds of whooshing and singing noises from my spokes (ordinary
32 hole rims) in windy conditions. What was the weather like?

No "whooshing sound" on my 2 year old Trek 5200 with bladed spokes...

Hi Harold. He is most likely correct (In part).
I assume these sounds you hear are indeed resonances that originate at
the Hubs/Spokes wheels, and travel through to the frame. You'll here
this on all road bikes to varying degrees. Steel Frames can have that
"magical" whirring sound to them. Could also be caused by slightly dry
hubs too?

Sure, most certainly try some other bikes. At the same dealer, and
check out others if you have some in your area. End of year sales are
popping up all over. Now is probably a good time to buy. Mark D.

There are a number of things that could cause noise while riding, including
wheel reflectors (particularly when going around a corner), underinflated
tires, or maybe a spoke protector that's rubbing.

Before your next test ride, you might check out this article on our website-
