Thanks in advance for your help and support on this. I currently have a Trek 4300. I love my bike. I know it's not top of the line, and I didn't buy it to be that. I bought this bike, to last me a while, to make sure I'm serious about MTB.
Anyway... here's my question. Without going out to buy a new bike (I'm not ready to do that yet, not financially anyway) what can I do to upgrade my current set up. I do ride trails, I like to DH, nothing insane, but decent. What would you guys recommend I add, or upgrade, or change on this bike?
Your better off buying a new bike...the retail mark-up for up-grades and assessories in much more than the retail mark-up for bikes. Your money will go much further buy saving and investing in a better bike. Think ahead....

I love my bike... I really do... I plan on getting another bike in a year or so, after i'm done getting my feet wet. I love my bike... I think i'm gonna get some disc brakes for it.

lets start a Trek4300 club. just got a Camelbak and a Giro E2 helmet, next on my list would be some tires. i wanna beef up those 2.0's with some 2.1 or 2.2's... tires, new fork, possibly disc brakes😄 what kind of discs you lookin to put on yours??

What brands and types of parts are you planning to add to your bike. What kind of fork? What do you use your bike primarily for? XC? DH?
well, i should be doing alot more XC now that i built my own bike rack for the back of my Toyota truck-bed. I use it for goin to class, and soon to be alot of XC. i went to Canada and did some Downhill stuff, and it scared the living [censored] outta me. i had to wear body armor and the whole lot. it was cool, but i think ill stick to XC for now.😄
oh yeah, i think i'll just end up ridin with what i have til stuff starts breaking. I'm just trying to accumulate gear for now. got a kelty Poseidon camelbak thing, minipump,Foxgloves, and just got a Giro E2 helmet off ebay. im well on my way. 😄
whats so bad about v-brakes? having v-brakes just makes it that much more challenging. you're right tho, v=brakes for now, and when i out-skill my trek, ill upgrade to a bike with discs.
