Hi,
I have been a casual rider for a couple of years now. I am 40 years old. Been involved in long distance touring mostly. Recently I bought a power meter, quit smoking, installed golden cheetah, read a couple of books, many blogs and forum posts and began to train with a self-made plan for the first time. Trying to figure out all the new concepts and secrets since.
I am training 5 days a week. Monday and Friday are rest days. Currently I do a endurance ride on Saturdays for 3-4 hours and I do a major interval session on Sunday, so that I can rest after intervals on Monday.
However from some of the plans I have seen here and there, the saturday session is a harder session like tempo ride with intervals and sunday is endurance day.
Why is this the case? Isn't it better to have the day off after a challenging day?
