Looking for a new one that's pretty straightforward. I think I asked
this a couple of years ago and found a decent on-line one, but it got
to be too much of a pain in the ass.
Any suggestions about programs that work for you would be greatly
appreciated. Not really looking for something I can download the data
into since my cycling abacus doesn't have the download feature.
Thanks

Bill Chttp://www.CycliStats.com - I like it a lot...but, I'm the author so I'm
completely biased.CycliStats tracks all the standard ride data (distance, time, route, heart
rate zones, notes, elevation gained, calories burned, etc.). You can easily
see summaries and graphs by route, by bike, by time period, etc. The
calendar view allows you to easily keep track of your daily, weekly,
monthly, and yearly totals. It also includes:
Seasonal cycling goals (for distance, time, etc.), and allows you to track
your progress.Bike maintenance (so you can see how many miles are on your chain, tires,
etc.).Personal health statistics (weight, body fat, resting heart rate, blood
pressure, etc.).A collection of cycling-specific tools (gearing calculator,
distance/time/average speed calculator, body fat estimator, etc.).You can download a free, fully functional, 30-day trial version from the
website.--

Bill CThe Athlete's Diary from Stevens Creek Software. It runs on my Palm and
PC both. The convenience of having something that runs on a PalmOS
device is the attraction. I can just log a ride on my Palm and sync it
up with my PC later. If I wasn't carrying my Palm anyway, I'd probably use something else.

Thanks!
BTW - Have you downloaded version the latest version (4.8)?
If so, what's your impression of the new "tabbed" look in the ride entry
window? I was a bit nervous about that design, but that window was getting
cluttered due to all the new fields, and I felt tabs were the only way to
un-clutter the window. Unfortunately, it means you can't see all the fields
at once.GG

I'm not quite in the abacus stage right now but close. I've got to
figure out where the mount for my polar with HR went, get a new battery
again, and swap it onto my bike. I'm pretty sure that I'd tried one of
the earlier versions of The Athlete's Diary and it just didn't click
for me. Good product though.

Bill CYou can also try CycleAtlas , a free, open-source cycling diary.
If you create your custom map, you can obtain ride profiles without any
altimeter devices.
Actually it's in heavy development state."CycleAtlas is a cycling diary based on a custom road atlas. It can be
used to store or to plan new rides. Functions includes generation of
planimetry, profiles and route time tables of rides. A map editor is
included, in order to create a custom road map"http://cycleatlas.sourceforge.net/

ManerThanks everyone for all the suggestions. It's looking like we're going
to end up using two different programs. A good cycling one, and a
multisport/diet type one. The last one we used was one of the latter,
but they seem to all have the same problem, which is they try to do too
much and don't do any of it well. I'm pretty sold on Cycli-stats. It
does just what I need, and is simple enough for half bonked typing
after a ride, and still gives me everything I want clearly.
Thanks everyone for all the good ideas. I really appreciate the help.

ease of use - I had tried many other log programs, and felt that most of

If you're interested in weight loss and health tracking, you may find my
"WeightWare" program useful. It uses the same database as CycliStats, and
has been designed to function as a computer-assisted weight loss assistant.
WeightWare also can track generic exercise activities, and will
automatically estimate calories burned. Like CycliStats, there's a free
trial version available for download from the website (www.WeightWare.com).--
