  1. This is for the aussies out here:

I'm being posted to HMAS Cerberus (62km south of Melbourne, at Westernport, Crib Point) from the 26th May '03. Does anyone know whether there is a cycling club or something close to it around the area?? There aren't any listings for the area with the Vic Cycling Council, so if anyone know's anything, please let me know!

I'm actually from Ballarat, I have NFI where or what cerberus is (our accounting system at work is called 'Cerberus' but last time I use it, it wasnt a place you could train 😄 )

I'm guessing if its near Melbounre, racing and training should be as good as it gets anywhere in Australia.

    cheers

  4. Duckwah, I am not a pusser mate!!!!!!

I'll shoot you for that! I'm in the Army, the changed the Med Assist training from Albury to HMAS Cerberus....so I've got to hang out with the bloody penguins down there...

  5. Hi Woof

Are you a member of a Melbourne based cycling club?

    cheers

  6. Naah, I'm still living in Sydney, but transfer to Cerberus 26th May, so I'll join up with one down there if there's a club around the area.

  7. This is one of the better clubs in Melbourne http://www.coburgcycling.com you should check them out!

    cheers

  8. Thanks for that mate, good on ya!

Better? Except that all of the races are way north of Melbourne, so you'll drive for two to three hours to get there. Join one of the South Eastern Clubs, such as http://www.blackburncycling.org.au/ The eastern combine (predominantly Blackburn and Carnegie) race around far eastern suburbs and Eastern parts of South eastern country Victoria. The northern combine race largely to the north of the city.

Oh, and there's races at Crib Point on the 24th May and 27th Sept.

  10. I know where you mean. Crib point, Stoney point, Hastings etc. There are lots of guys/girls that train round Mornington and Frankston etc. Stay off Coolart rd. Super dangerous!!

  11. Southern Veteran Cycling club races there 3 or 4 times during the year.

    Checkthe calendar http://www.southernvets.com.au/

    Cheers

And given that his profile says he was born in 1979, that will be handy once 2014 arrives and he can race with the vets!

  13. If anyone has been or is in the Defence Force, they will have heard of a certain area known as SCMA. If you have any stories about them, please let me know, cause I now have two posting orders. 1 for HMAS Cerberus from 26/05/03 and the 2nd for ALTC Albury from 24/06/03...

I LOVE when SCMA shafts people around!!

  14. Unless Cerberus has changed in the last 20 odd years, its freezing cold during May, and miles from civilisation..but you probably know now..I only just saw this post. Good luck with it..you'll need a bike just to go anywhere..
