  1. I have been doing base training over the last couple months and have felt great since the road racing season ended, I was looking to start intervals and and more intensity to my training this week. I just had oral surgery last week and was just told by my doctor I could start riding again. I felt awful out on my first ride, my question is do I should I wait on higher intensity training, if so how long should I wait? Or should I just push through this and start higher intensity training?

Things that may have effected my ride
I have lost 8lbs in the past week due to not being able to maintain a normal diet.

I have only been off pain killers for 48 hours (the mouth feels good though no complaints there)

    Thanks in advance

  2. Not taking prescribed pain killers is like not accepting free money.

  3. I hate pain killers. I had knee surgery last Feb. and still have a whole bottle of hydrocodones, didn't take one of them . They make me ill. The pain is better than the side effect.
Good luck on the come back!

That's because vicodin--hydrocodone--is a girly man of a pain killer. Oxycodone is where the fun starts (followed in increasing fun by oxycontin and IV Darvon). See everything's cool and froody on Planet Percodan.

Once, in an accident I violated my thoracic skeleton and cervical spine in over 26 times. I started PT 3-4 weeks later. I never would have been able to do the aggressive PT we did without my opiate friends. Taking Percodan and Oxycontin at the same time is a hoot!

Give it a week or two of steady stuff and see how you feel.

    Starts but doesn't end... 🙁

+1. Could be you felt bad just from being off the bike for a little bit, so resume eating normally and training around your previous level until you start feeling spunky again and then ramp it up. Delaying the onset of higher intensity training for a few days shouldn't disrupt your training progam.

  9. I've been training on a roller trainer since about September now, and just for fun I have been tracking some of the crude data I get out of my HR monitor and bike computuer. It was hard to notice if I was making any progress, so I decided to chart out some of my stats. It certainly has motivated me to keep going as there is definitely some postive trends. I usually try to put on 20km per ride and takes me about 45 minutes... plus or minus a few.
