  1. I've always been a 3 day a week full body routine type of guy. I've had
great strength gains but only moderate size gains. Is the "train each body
part once per week" routine worth trying?

If you're not eating more calories than you're burning you won't gain size
regardless of your routine. Your 3 day a week full body routine will work as
    long as you eat enough.

I know. But which is better. One day per week where you concentrate all your
effort blasting the one muscle group, then allowing it to heal and grow for
a week or the 3 day per week routine?

    Full routine, 3x a week.

Ah, my good friend, the Spungonator!

Listen, before you [censored] your pants, do this:

Try both. Switch 'em up. You said you've been using the 3 day per week
routine regularly. It's time for a switch. Change routines. Go with the
one day per week blaster routine. Up your food intake per Tyrone's
    suggestion (kindasorta) so you'll grow.

Unless you're a genetic misfit (like me) you'll grow. (UP YOURS,
GOHDE!) And, actually, when I ate like a horse, I was able to grow. But
I have to literally EAT A TON OF FOOD. Constant eating and all day long
at that. Hopefully, your body's geared more to gaining without the
    megacalories.

Now, I hope that clears things up. Get to training.

I would counter that if you're a rookie that ya can do that all over body
workout. But if you've trained for any period of time, you likely will need
to hit one body part per day. That way you can hit them hard, I normally
do Chest on Monday, Arms on Tuesday, Legs/Neck on Wednesday and
Back/Shoulders on Thursday. I do one weekend day as catch up for anything
I've missed or lagging body parts.

Pure stupidity from wifferboyATL. He's a tiny, stickboy, [censored], and

I've been down that road a few times. I *did* grow pretty good on that
routine but I actually lost strength with each cycle. I'm definitely going
back to HST at some point.

Once per week isn't enough. You'll end up detraining.

[censored]. It is unlikely you will be detraining at once per week.
However, you won't go much beyond maintenance, either.

Yeah, there was some study about 5-10 years ago that said as much. Once a
week was all that was need to maintain.
Course, that was awhile back, results change, and an open mind is going with
    the data.

I guess it's what you need to maintain. If I just benched once a
    week, I'd go backwards...which I have.

In other words, if you are maintaining strength levels that aren't
much over the strength level you would normally have if you didn't
train, you could get away with training less frequently. As you
progress to your genetic limit, you need to train more frequently.
