Trail a long advice?

My first thought is to take a tag along, like an Adams "trail-a-bike", and modify it. A good welder with some creativity could build up something with a car seat that could work well.

How about a "Bob" trailer with a kids car seat bolted in place? A lower center of gravity and would pull pretty well.

Finally, make sure you have excellent brakes as the additional weight is hard to stop with older styled brakes. Linear pull V-brakes are a good start.

Hi I have a Tri Hitchhiker that I probably will sell , but the first issue is , do you have info on attaching it to the lead bik. I perhaps don't have the proper clamp as it doesn't seem right to me. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate the help. If you are still looking to buy one maybe I can work something out.

I also have a Tri Hitchhiker frame that I finished to make a pedaling tag-along. My frame didn't come with a coupler to connect to the adult bike, and I'm wondering if you still have the owner's manual that came with the Hitchhiker for contact info. As mentioned before, Tri is tough to track down on the internet.

I have found a picture of the original Tri coupler on an Ebay auction that was selling the tag-along. The closest I can come is the "Seat Post Kit" from the "Trail Gator" towing bar and that's what I'm planning to use if I can't get an original coupler from Tri.

Hi, if anyone has any links/info - I'm all ears. I'm in the same boat, 9 year old disabled boy, loves his supportive tricycle, but not able to use it to go out as a family. At present he sits in a tow a long trailer type add on. I know tfh disabled catalogue used to do a Tag-A-Long but then discontinued it.

I just got an email from a customer who has a similar problem with the tri hitchhiker, so I searched and found others with this problem. I'd suggest going to a real bike shop and looking for a Adams Trail-a-bike dealer. They will have access to a backrest with straps that attaches to the seatpost of the Adams Trail-a-bike, as well as an actual child seat that can replace the standard seat, for 1-3 year olds. Also, Adams is a real company that you can get replacement parts for 😄.

If they don't offer a larger one, a clever fabricator ought to be able to craft one for you quite easily.

See if you can find a frame builder in your area - I bet they'd love to help!

Pashley, in the UK, have a tag-along with two wheels, like half a tricycle. It's very pricey, though. Their web address is www.pashley.co.uk You never know, they might be prepared to add a custom-built seat. The price on the add-1, as it's called, is around £450, I think.

Did you ever find a bike? We have a 10 year old son with cerbral palsy and are looking for the same thing. Will you please let me know if you had any luck finding something. Thanks--lorrie
