Track pump

I can second the reccomendation for the Topeak Joe Blow.

Got mine from Halfords for £25 a while back, but they seem to be up to £30
now (http://tinyurl.com/2judsn) so Chain Reaction Cycles seems like the best
deal with free postage.

Yep, Joe Blow is a good pump. Other track pumps I've had all become
increasingly more difficult to get the air into the tyre over time
(rather than just into the valve housing)

Also, at least some Halfords branches have a box of spares for it. I
went in, took one off the shelves, stripped it down by hand on the
cash desk and said 'do you have one of these' brandishing a teensy
weensy spring from the vicinity of the pressure gauge. I nearly
fainted when they said 'I think so' (all my 'good' LBSs having sucked
in their teeth, hummed, haahed, promised to think about looking into
whether they could get it or not, special order from Barnards Star and
they've only just put their regular order in, etc etc). After a
little rummaging, they did indeed have half a dozen of the springs.

When Halfords man said I could have one of the springs for free I
think I lost the power of coherent speech.

My only gripe (other than that the teensy spring near the pressure
gauge can rust through in about 8 years use) is that the hose didn't
seem that great quality - mine went brittle and cracked where it was
regularly folded over the handle, and in only about four years. With
the replacement hose, I've taken to carefully not folding it in the
same place - I now loosely twirl it around the barrel.

However, other than that very good, and also recommended.

The Silca Super Pista is a great pump - except for the head, IMO. The head
that came with mine slipped off Presta valves too easily. A Topeak
SmartHead can be fitted (which I have done), but that makes a rather
expensive purchase in total.

As long as the barrel is no wider (?), I would just get a Topeak track pump
if I was starting all over again from scratch.
