http://www.cyclingnews.com/photos/2004/apr04/austracknats04/index.php?id=day3/JVmu19sprint2I think he got under the (commissaire's) radar with that helmet. Australian track commissaires, in my experience, enforce the helmet rules that they must meet local standards or equivalent.
It looks like a hard shell hair net with no or very little impact absorbing liner. I have never seen one like that before so I doubt it would be available on the market. I may be wrong on its availability but I would be certain it is not an approved helmet satisfying standards.

I certainly wouldnt be seen dead in one thats for shure.

A lot of the Kiwi and Victorian sprinters ride them. I've been told they come from New Zealand but i dont know how true that is.

Hey Lasalles, was it John Beasley that informed you of that question? I was the one that asked him that and sent him that link for it. I was just curious as I've never seen it before. I was later told that it is made in Germany, and that Shane was given the helmet by a few of the german guys. Stefan Nimke and Jan van Eijden ride them as well

No it was a guy from the States off the Fixed Gear Forums. Anthony Peden also wore one.

Werent some of the helmets the Germans wore at the World Champs horrible.You might aswell wear a bucket or ice cream container on your head.And whats with the motorbike look and ski goggles here---- LOL!!!!!!!!!
