TR - (wordless again) Pyrenees

Great shots. Looks as if you kept moving for most of the 2 days!

Try a bit further east (Mont Roig/Certascan) if you want to see fewer
people, and June for longer days...

You are right. But that's for next year when I go from Sentein to
Merens-les-vals (HRP)
This year I was making a big tour around Vall D'aran (with my
daughter). For ten day's food in my back-pack.
Sometimes there was no path.

Don't tell everyone, Ivo - they'll all want to go!

For your trip next year, it's worth dropping down to Tavascan to
reprovision/ take a rest. Make time to investigate the _underground_
hydroelectric scheme - ask in the Hotel Estanys Blaus for a guided
tour. I promise you it's worth the time and (small) money.

Out of interest Dave, when in your opinion is the best time of year to go?
Frankly, last week seemed like a superb time, warm in the valleys, with
settled weather, and that golden autumnal light I was hoping to find, and
no-one around. However, I'm sure it was unseasonably warm there last week
(as it is back in England, uncannily warm in Norfolk today), but can
probably be quite rough at this time of year. Summer for me is a
non-starter, too bloody hot and crowded (depends where you go I suppose to
avoid the crowds?). How early in the year are the mountains free enough of
snow?

"Free enough" is a personal thing; to me it means being able to go
most, but not all, places without axe and crampons. Usually 2nd/3rd
week of June, but even then you can get a surprise. Bonus if you're
into rafting is that the snowmelt is generally making the rivers
interesting at that time as well.

I think you probably were a bit lucky in October this time.
