Yes, Sunday was the windiest walk I've ever done. A friend was totally blown off his feet at one
point. I also got to experience cloud freezing to everything it touched at the top of scafell pike.
There was no (okay, VERY little) sign of snow or ice, which was upsetting as I'd just bought a shiny
new ice axe and wanted to practice using it.

HA HA, you noticed that too. I was undecided as to whether to view from the mountains or the pub
was best. I decided on the mountains in the end as I was was able to climb on top of them but not
the barmaid.

Have they had any of that christmas special ale this year - can't remember the exact name, something
like Reverend <somebodys> winter warmer ? Had a few of those when we stayed at the Bridge Inn last
christmas (
2002 ) - we walked to the Wazzie every lunchtime just to sample the ales without having to worry
about driving. Had a few (!) pints of the afformentioned brew one lunchtime, and when I got
out into the fresh air my legs decided they didn't want to work :-) Good stuff . . . . .

Hi all I don't usually post here but I do read this group regularly and try to get up the hills
whenever I can, weather and work permitting. We were at Wasdale last weekend as well, we were the
ones who decided to camp... We went down to Wasdale head on Friday, got there about 5 and put the
tent up in the dark and peeing rain then sat in the pub all night till another friend arrived about
10 ish. On Saturday we went up Green Gable and Brandreth in the gale and occasional peeing rain, The
clouds parted on the summit of Green Gable for about 5 mins then the clouds came right in and it was
compass work on and off Brandreth. The wind knocked me over on the way down by Sty Head Tarn . We
spent another night in the pub, on Sunday we packed up, had lunch in keswick with bob and came home,
so it was really good. I didn't think I would sleep but I was warm and cosy and slept like a log. I
didn't notice the barmaid myself but we did speak to the Wasdale 13 who looked much the worse for
wear on the Sunday morning. Julie S West Coast Scotland.

Yes, it is Buckbarrow, which I have always assumed to be a crag of Seatallan? What do people
generally think?

I noticed it but didn't like to say anything! I'd regard it as a separate mountain, but that's just
my preference. Buckbarrow is what you see when you drive down to Greendale. Seatallan is what you
see when you go up Netherbeck and turn left. It was not far after that 'left turn' - within a mile
or two - that we came across a golden eagle's nest (well, two actually) and a few minutes later, a
golden eagle obligingly arrived. This was in the '70s.

Its a good crag! Had a lot of fun on there.

Bit remote from Seatallan, and barrow suggests hill rather than just a crag. Wainwright gave it a
chapter - up to you I suppose.
