Led a walk this morning along the River Tawe in Glais. My partner walked/jogged at a quicker rate
than I, but then he's only 4 years and 5 months and is a Black Labrador.

Distance 2 km, ascent negligible, time .75 hrs.

I did a few miles around Cheshire woods and footpaths yesterday afternoon, and today we visited
Beeston castle which, conveniently, was closed - so we had the entire place to ourselves. We went in
over the wall around the back - the missus performed creditably over a 6 ft wall without
dishevelling her new fleece or hat (I had to hold her gloves). Then up the steep wooded slope - I
reckon the craggy cliff would be barred to all but rock-climbers. A flock of siskins passed by us,
and a g.s.woodpecker was somewhere above our heads. We disturbed a squirrel or two as well as a
single rabbit. It started to pis* down when we reached the castle so we took shelter briefly in the
deserted ruins, then wandered down the other side where I flushed a woodcock - the first I've seen
in nearly twenty years. The exit climb over the wall was easier - it's lower from the inside - then
we strolled innocently back to the car, and drove home slowly for the most part, behind a hat-wearer
in a Micra.

Thats the one...And yes, just as in the days when I lived on its lower slopes it was full of the
former contents of dogs!
