TR: North Cornwall Coast Path

Bit like the Dorset section of the SWCP Clare and I often walk between

Thankyou Sandy! It was only windy on the first day (and it was VERY windy
and spectacular!), but after that it was flat calm, although the sea took a
couple of days to settle down again. I hadn't really been set on doing the
lot until this week, I had previously walked Minehead to Ilfracombe, and
Bude to Padstow, but think I'm now hooked enough to want to do the rest
(except maybe the urban areas, I'm not that much of a purist to want to walk
through Torbay for instance). I haven't even looked at the south coast yet
though, I imagine its a bit different in character but I'm looking forward
to it, and the Dorset section may be next on the list because I always
prefer to be walking into the west.

Cheers Mike - all shot on Canon 300D with bog standard lenses, some don't
stand up to extreme close inspection, but then that was probably partly due
to the fact that both camera (and photographer) were often covered in
seaspray! (ps 2305 was Trevose Head from near Stepper Point by the way)

Cheers PW! Still slowly aiming at producing some sort of account based upon
similar lines to your logs i.e. Pennine Way etc. Text AND pictures tell much
more of a story than either text OR pictures.

I think you'd be missing out if you didn't walk much of Torbay. The area north
of the harbour in Torquay has some beautiful scenery for example. The only
bit I'd not recommend is part of the route between Torquay and Paignton where
you will be walking adjacent to a busy road.

I've not walked the whole south section, but I have walked all of the path
through Dorset - and it is stunning. I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

As mentioned, we occasionally do various routes between Swanage, St Alban's
Head through Kimmeridge Bay and past Lulworth Cove. All very dramatic
cliffs. Bit 'quiet' through Weymouth for cliffs, but improves further West.
Keep talking about getting down to Cornwall for coastal walking .... but the
problem is, if we have a few days off work, we tend to drive north to the
Lake District. I know the walking would be brilliant along the rugged
Cornish coastline, but I like to get to hills if I have time of work!

Its pretty good on the whole (with some reservations) but I'd have gone for

Actually, I did visit Paignton not too long ago, (pretty forgettable though,
apart from getting verbally abused by two tiresome 'dog on a string'
lifelong ne'er-do-well druggie tossers on the beach at 8am, and then seeing
a terminally hopeless bunch of teenage girls throwing stuff around and
swearing like troopers in front of some poor holidaying old folks). I'll
take your advice on the rest of Torbay, but there's not much wrong with
Paignton that a few megatons of nuclear fission wouldn't correct.
