Great inversions Sean ...................... but I want to know when the
snow is going to arrive! I want some white stuff on the ground, not just
floating in the valleys so I can get some decent winter walking.

Well, if you didn't make it up today I went up the Old Man and
conditions weren't as good as yesterday. There was a nice inversion

My crampons and icceaxe have been ready for weeks ........... just itching
to get stuck into some ice. The forecast, at the moment indicates
'improving' weather!

Last year it was reported it was going to be the worst winter for decades,
so bring it on oh! great one.

Only by the tabloids, who couldn't understand the met office press
release! Their actual predictions have been amazingly accurate so far
- below average in the south east, milder than average further north,
and with very little precipitation. Cold spells alternating with
milder spells, overall the coldest winter in ... 10 years - though so
far they're wrong with that, it's actually IIRC the 3rd coldest. But
the rest of February is due to be chilly...

Plenty of snow up in Scotland.

And plenty of ice in the Beacons. Not necessarily the sort of ice
you're looking for, but it's definitely there. Perishing cold, it were
today.
