TR Hart Fell

Can someone oblige and tell me what TR stands for in the subject lines of
some items? I imagine it is something report?

Hi Roddy, TR = Trip Report thus allowing the reader to choose whether
or not to read the text knowing it is a report on a recent walking
trip.

exposed to the elements it was surprisingly warm and comfortable and a
strangely enjoyable trek back along the corrie edge in almost white
out conditions. Dropping back down towards Hang Gill it was apparent
that about 4 to 6 inches of snow had fallen even at this level in the
time we were on the hill. The whole trip took exactly 4 hours, not
too bad in these conditions today.

That was my last Corbett of 2004 giving me a count of 41 new Corbetts
this year, against 48 in 2003. ( also managed 11 repeated Munros in
2004 ). the first trip out for 2005 is planned for Jan 2nd so can I
end by wishing all on the ng a Happy New Year and many more summits in
2005 !

What a shame to visit such a fantastic area and get such conditions, a
favourite walk of mine is the circuit of Black Hope, from where you turned
back you continue round and go over the impressive Saddle Yoke before
descending back down to your car!

That was the intended route but it was becoming silly to continue on
in the conditions. The boundary shown on the OS goes to the bealach
after Hartfell Rig but then veers away East and North. There also
looks like some wide plateau areas which could have been challenging
for route finding. Knowing that we had a fence to follow all the way
back down our ascent route and without any possibility of a view
anyway we took the easier option. We did get some spectacular
atmospheric views down into the snow-swept glen from the little
outcrop over Black Craig. It was like standing on the edge of nothing
with the snow swirling and driving below, looking down over crags, but
unable to see the base of the glen. It gave a real mountaineering feel
to an otherwise easy enough hill. Will more than likely return and do
the full circuit when we go back to the Moffat Hills for the other two
Corbetts down there.

t'was not a typo, but a speeling mistook, and I was not starting but
was continuing... and as for the ' it [deprecated] in its, well, all I

I was right across the Glen from you! Did you see me waving in my yellow
jacket, or were you too busy trying to keep warm?
We parked near Selcoth farm about 09:45 and did the 4 Donalds: Croft Head,
Loch Fell, Wind Fell and Capel Fell. When we left the car, there didn't
seem to be much snow, so I wore my light weight shoes. Only a thin layer
of snow on Croft Head at 10:45. but pretty clagged in as we cross the
Southern Upland way and headed up Loch Fell. Heavy snow and wind by then,
I had to put my gloves on when I got to the top! Blizzard conditions
following the fence to Wind Fell where I reminded my friend that this area
was supposed to have the best weather in Scotland that day!
Noticed there was lots of snow about, thought that was strange!
back to the car after 4 hours, with snow right down almost to the car, but
heavy rain at the car 8-(
Nice circuit, shame about the weather!

Hopefully one more Corbett for this year tomorrow.

Yes, I may be gone some time ...
April and May at least.
So completing the Corbetts will have to wait until I am back.
