Strange how one mountain can sometimes prove to be difficult to get or
take multiple attempts. Mine was Beinn Fhada. On three different
occasions went to Morvich camp site and was either rained off twice,
or the third time the weather was that good we did the Five Sisters
instead. The fourth attempt was successful but only in conditions so
poor we really should have turned back. Just thinking about this now
make me consider going back as it looks like a great mountain for a
clear weather day using the high route out over Sgurr a'Choire
Ghairbh.

Anyway Nick, I am sure you will bag BIM one of these days

I think I've only had the opportunity once and declined.

If I am thinking of the right hill, it was at the end of my last URW
exped and I decided to go round rather than over. (To cries of
"You'll never manage to do ********** if you can't do that"😉.

I'd like to do that as well, but not in the usual timespan. I'm far too
bone idle for that, and anyway I quite fancy the idea of a leisurely
drive and a hot shower/meal cooked by someone else/bed for the night
between walks. Maybe I'm just getting old or something. I'd start in
Scotland and work my way south, not because it's the usual way to do it
but because living in south Wales ending in Snowdonia seems vaguely
logical from the point of view of getting home again.

Yr Aran by Snowdon is mine... Failed (again) yesterday due to a twisted
back...
Must be on my 3rd attempt, not counting the the times i went up south ridge
in the past and ignored it as extra contours to climb.

One day, i'll climb it!

Mine is Rhinog Fawr. Didn't go up from the col on the west side because
it seemed not the Proper Way to get there at the time. Then couldn't find
a way up from Bwlch Drws Ardudwy. Then tried the Roman Steps side, but
my foot played up. Then got fed up. I think it's time for another
attempt!

Mine is Rhinog Fawr. Didn't go up from the col on the west side because
it seemed not the Proper Way to get there at the time. Then couldn't find
a way up from Bwlch Drws Ardudwy. Then tried the Roman Steps side, but
my foot played up. Then got fed up. I think it's time for another
attempt!

Yeah, looks a tricky summit that one.
I've got plans to bag it as a two dayer, but failing that, i can now get a
bus there from up north and do it as a day trip.

Doing it tomorrow.

Tactics.

1) Leave earlier

2) Weather/cloudbase is high

3) Attack via Glas Tul. since it's a fast track up then cut across.
Much faster due to track and easy navigation.
