Took a days holiday to accompany some work colleagues on holiday in Scotland along the Aonach Eagach on Wednesday. The weather was low cloud and mist and although ideal temp for walking it was very poor from the point of view of seeing anything from the ridge. May have been a good thing however as the mist hid most of the exposed sections, specially round the crazy pinnacles. It did make route finding "interesting" in a few places though. All three are experienced walkers and all three agreed that this had been their best day on the hills ever. Well Done to Paul and Paula who actually summitted their first two Munros on the ridge, not too many people start their Munro careers with one of the best ridges in the UK. Will upload some photos next week, very hazy in the mist but good enough to show the difficulty of the walk.

My first Munro back in 1980 was Buachaille Etive Mor via Curved ridge, done in a pair of Doc Martins, half mast trousers and skinhead hair cut ....I must have looked like a complete clown! The couple of lads who took me on that trip, who both had loads of Scottish hill experience must have been trying to frighten me half to death, instead they inspired me to a life time of Scottish Mountaineering, I went back a week later (this time in proper boots) and soloed Agags groove!

I started in some style with Sgurr Alasdair, though my brother had to coax me carefully along the final few meters!

Stone Chute. For an encore we did Collie's Ledge, and I was *terrified*. Was reduced to tears at one point, with my brother having to get me down a wrong turn one hold at a time. I was about 16 or 17. Last time I did CL I think I took my hands out of my pockets once or twice!
