So that's who they're saving the #1 bib in the
Tour of California for! -
Does he really have enough time to get in shape for this season?
According to his website, he didn't attend much of the Solvang training
camp. He didn't even complete the sponsor ride--peeling off after just
20 miles. Plus, he was asking all his teammates if he was fat. And
according to the gossip magazines and his radio show, he's enjoying
more than a few drinks. Not that I'm criticizing anyone's right to
relax--I like my glasses of wine in the evening. But for an elite
athlete planning a comeback... Looks doubtful to me. At least for this
season. Then again, his movie is in production, and it needs a good
ending, now that he keeps ruining his happy endings in his personal
life. -

So that's who they're saving the #1 bib in the
Tour of California for!He *is* out here... or at least he was a couple days ago, to film a
commercial (they borrowed one of our bikes). But I don't expect to see him
showing up at the starting line, nor do I know the rules that would or
wouldn't allow such a last-minute substitution, nor do I know if he's kept
his Pro license current. But could you imagine if he showed up, in full kit at the starting line, as
a joke? Or how easy it would be, knowing that he's out here, to start a
rumor that the Tour of California may have a rather huge surprise in store,
something that could change everything people thought about the '06 Tour de
France landscape?--Mike-- Chain Reaction Bicycles
