I saw all of the NorCal stages last year and I think the crowds might be bigger this year. I had a chance to chat up some of the Euro guys prior to Stage 3...the biggest complaint most had was the distance they needed to travel to California and the jet lag but the did like the hotels....A+ !

dispite some thoughts, it was a really good race and the finish was really exciting.

nice to be able to have pro races in California regardless of what the riders are talking about to themselves.

I've heard the pace there is fast. Did you hear anything ref. the speeds?

I've enjoyed what little highlights Vs. has shown and it's pretty cool to see a such a nice list of pros here in the States. If I wasn't working this week I'd make the trip from Tucson over there to see a stage. Any idea what the grades were on the big climb yesterday? (Stage 3 I believe) Nice pics too!

Speeds ? Its a training ride... the riders only go to the US because there teams make them go...... its hardly a star studded line up.... Pro racing belongs in Europe and it always will.... end of story.... when you got fat-arsed , beer guzzing neo-pros from US cycling teams almost winning prologues then you know the racing not serious....

Well, the speeds where fast enough on stage 3 to completely sack the Disco boys. Obviously Leipheimer was going strong, and McCartney was up there having hid in the break for most of the day but the rest of the team where well behind. They even lost Allan Davis to the time cut!

I don't know about anyone else but I cycle and follow the sport because I like it and it's fun.

For everyone else, there were thousands of people out watching. I spoke to a few of the forced Europeans and other than the travel thing most if not all really are having a good time.

um, right. I think racing out of europe is awesome. Anytime I can watch it, it's great. Back on topic, I really don't think Leipheimer will hold on to the jersey within the next few stages. Jens Voight is getting pretty close.

I do Sierra about once a week. The grade is nasty. Nothing over 18%, but nothing under 10% generally. It's simply an unrelenting exercise in pain. It's probably the hardest climb in the Bay Area. But they need to finish the race at the top and not let it run into downtown San Jose. None of the climbers give it their all because they know they need to hang with the group in order to make it to the finish.

I agree, a hill top finish would be pretty cool or even a stage that goes over an Ebbits pass or something in that area would be interesting. You wouldn't get many spectators and spectators = money and money means having the race.

I could live with a downtown finish if it means having the race even if it's fat beer guzzling neo pros.
