I'd already dragged the bottom end of the gloom-curve up quite a bit as
it was!

the red channel a little) and then did an auto contrast tweaked the
levels again and boosted the saturation a bit. I then gave it a bit
of contrast mask to darken the clouds and lighten the shadows.

It sounds complicated to do but it was just few seconds work in
Photoshop.

It would have been easy enough in Gimp (which I used) /if/ I'd have
known as much about tweaking pix as you do and/or stuck at it. But, I
don't/didn't, so thanks, and your version is now up on the site :-)

I enjoyed reading it. I really hope I can get DW into extended
bike-pootling when the kids are a bit older (I don't think I'll have a
problem getting the kids into it).

And it's not just NL that still allows smoking in restaurants. I'm
*really* looking forward to July.

For almost 13 months now, one of the first things that really strikes us
as "good, we're home now!" after a trip to anywhere foreign, England
included, is smoke-free pubs, cafes and restaurants.

After all the people who said it wouldn't/couldn't work, it seems to
have worked remarkably well. I wasn't that surprised as it had already
worked in Ireland, but when has a real world track record ever counted
as evidence when you've already made up your mind? ;-/

I can't help noticing that, seemingly, your Streetmachine took itself

The ultimate assisted bike: you don't even have to show up! (though
the front derailleur post and left pedal /almost/ make it into shot
with my left foot on the first couple I took while riding.
Subsequent "action" shots I sat up so as to miss the foot out.)
