I would recommend seeing it at the cinema if only to do justice to the way the film successfully
captures the scale and majesty of the Andes. I can't really envisage it translating to small format
and retaining this.

LOTR book and film were never going to agree. The books too big to film even over three sections. I
think the argument, if there is one, is how different the two are.

really enjoy the total one experience of using both.

Not too sure I agree with. The book is written by Joe Simpson about Joe Simpson. He is writing very
much from his own and very personal view point.

The film is, as I understand it, produced and directed by someone other than Joe Simpson and so will
include some 'translation' of the experience.

I appreciate that both Joe simpson and Simon Yates were involved in the film but I really believe
that the book is more powerful than the film.

I disagree. I think they're quite different in several ways. For instance, Mr Base Camp Guy whose
name I forget comes off far better from the film than from the book. eg his reaction when Joe
arrives back at camp.

Great film, gripping, but slow during his last 'night out' when they were trying to illustrate his
mental/emotional state. I got quite emotionally involved with his epic escape, I wonder if it
affected anyone else in this way?

That bloody film! I was singing Boney M song to myself whilst wandering the Cluanie Forest recently.

What do you use for the web presentation, ie for the text/layout/link for your slideshow? Or have
you perhaps just written the pages "longhand" (constructed as normal web pages)? (BTW I found the
photo captions diff to see clearly, the text displayed here in a colour quite close to the
background page colour)
