  1. Great book, I hope to see the film sometime soon...

  2. At last! I knew the film rights had been picked up by Tom Cruise's company, but thought it would be
some time before/if it ever made it to the screen.

A bit of a tough nut to film, but surely the ultimate in reality TV

I hope Joe Simpson sees some real cash from it - the guy's had a lot of interesting things to say
over the years - respect where it's due

Probably not going to be a box office smash, but who care's, they're usually the films that are the
    most interesting Bryan Hall Dorzet

I managed to book tickets for an advance screening at the Reghed centre in Penrith a couple of weeks
ago. The evening started with a talk from Simon Yates (The one who cut the rope).

All I can say is Wow. It is more of a documentary and although i was waiting for a Michael Birck
voice over from 999; dont let the fact that it is a documentary put you off. I was enthralled
throughout and would heartily recommend it.

The thing for me was that in the book it was Simon who came across as the arrogant one of the two.
After the film I think that it was in fact the other way round.

The photography is great. However nothing could beat some of the pictures in the book.

Just caught the end of that where they were talking about cutting the rope and walking past climbers
on Everest. Also Joe's comments about going back to Peru so it sounds like they haven't done a Carry
On Up The Khyber and filmed it somewhere else.

It's going to be a cert for the Kendal Film Festival. I would have thought at least one multiplex in
a large city is likely to have it on. The book has sold 2 million.

No tickets available. Bugger. They say they're showing it as a regular feature from the 15th (or as
regular as Showroom gets. Top venue for film buffs, BTW).

Mmmmm, indeed. It's where about 2000 folk watched it a couple of weeks ago...me included.

It's good. It compliments the book, if you've read it, but I'm told it stands on it's own if you
haven't. It's a "docu-drama" with interviews of the 3 people involved cut with the mountain action.

It's very well done, and had me squirming in my seat at times.
