Ride or Die
Well here's a lonely thread.
My top cadence is 167, I must say I tend to bounce quite a bit at that speed though.
Just went for another ride today and clocked up 187 in a sprint cause my gears are 'locked out' for racing. And 177 is pretty sweet.
I hit 181 once. Gently downhill, 3rd gear. It lasted about 15 seconds, until someone hollered, "hey John - clean it up, you're bouncing."
Lol they said to me 'Hey steady up ur not ridin a bull here'.

But I have a 161-tooth chainring...
286 rpm on a fixed gear weighted wheel spin-type bike (and I didn't bail). Schwinn DX900. I got my own to try and replicate it. I've only been able to hit 240-250 so far. 210-220 rpm on my regular bike on trainer. Not sure on the road but I'll give it a go when it's warmer out. I put slight resistance on and don't count it if my legs don't stay coordinated.
Scott Berry (former National Team sprinter) used to do 6 second bursts at 300 rpm for training his legspeed (on a DX900 type machine). After I read about that I tried to match him. Never could.

LOL!
200+ but it was on a static bike.
What's a cadence?
Cadence is the cycling equivalent of RPM. So the number of times your legs turn the cranks per minute.
My top cadence is similar to Carpediem, about 285 rpm. After doing this a couple times on an indoor ergo, one of the gym staff spotted me and came up to me and said: "Hi there. I saw you doing your little thing on the bike. You know, the equipment can't take that, get off!." He then took me to the schwinn bikes, which although more rugged, don't have cadence data. Since then, I haven't tried for max rpms. The bike at the gym I go to now shuts off at 185 rpm.
