he had a good year.
Boonen- alright call me crazy, I leave off stronger names like O'grady,
Zabel, and Mcewen. I just think that he is a threat anywhere he goes.
Valverde- he is a lot like Cuenego, everyone seems to want him and he
can win any race on any day.

Ludo is always in my top 10 list because he always looks like he is having
fun during the races. I hope that he finds a team for next year.

Cunego - beautiful eyes, but I don't know enough about his personality to assign a hottitude quotient. He seems pretty quiet, which I like in a man. Less words, more action. Some definite hottitude there.

Valverde - ditto, but man, does this guy rock the bike or what? He's got ferocity, passion and style. High hottitude.

Pettachi - Again, great eyes, but he did a little whining in between his winning, and that always takes away from hottitude. He seems kind of sensitive, which could be a good thing. But as far as winning and looks, his hottitude quotient is right up there.

Zabel, sweet Zabel, perpetual bridesmaid, but races with pure heart and a genuine love for the sport. His loyalty to his team makes him a superhottie.

Bettini - what personality! He's kind of funny looking and really short, but he makes his own olive oil - how cool is that? Extra hottitude points for being down to earth.

Jan Ullrich - 'nuff said. Even if he is senor segundo, he's still a charmer, a looker and a badass bike racer. Who can resist those freckles?

Ivan Basso - need I say more? Podium at Le Tour, awesome looks, loves his mother and his family - super hottitude.

Sammy Sanchez - not well known, but has those awesome Basque eyebrows and descends like a bat outta hell. He's ready for a breakout year, but he's already there with the hottitude.

Chris Horner - ooh, those rosy cheeks are hitting the big time and thank GOD he lost the awful facial hair. He's brash, but he backs his mouth up with badditude on the bike. Top tens in Europe validate all of North American bike racing. Hottitude on the rise.

Ivan Dominguez - I have never in my life seen a better looking set of legs on a man. A true sweetheart, a charmer, so good looking and fast! Huge hottitude. Someone give this man a fat contract.

I think Niemiec is really gonna bust out, and Varini is gonna be the
next Renzo Mazzoleni, seriously.
I almost left out Rafael Nuritdinov of De Nardi (Uzbekhistan), watch
out for him in 1.6 one day races and 2.6 stage races like the Tour of
Croatia, he's always good for a top 15.

I think that was more like the top 10 riders of this year.. but that's
a perfectly fine topic, and one which I'll be happy to chip into. It
is a shortcoming of mine that I am familiar only with road-riding men,
and I hope that that is acceptable to most...

Max Van Heeswijk - A real star, with a work ethic just as
uncompromising as Erik Zabel's, although his failures in the Tour and
Vuelta were perplexing. Having lit up the roads since mid-February,
he is still racing even now, in mid-October, in a competitive six-day.

Alessandro Petacchi - Nevermind that he sometimes has to be forced at
gunpoint to sprint, he comes up with the goods. One of Ferretti's
greatest achievements.

Damiano Cunego - Won a raft of prestigious races leading up to the
Giro d'Italia, cranked the pressure into his team leader to take the
grand prize there, and then built up a smaller but still fruitful peak
in the late season. A major force.

Davide Rebellin - His results were packed into a very tight
time-frame, and some others who had one good week I would not consider
as a top rider of the year.. but they were pure magic, art on a bike.
It is enough of a compliment to say that his Amstel-Fleche-Liege
triple was record-breaking, or unprecedented - the "how" of it was
just as impressive as the fact that he broke down the wall and did it.

Stuart O'Grady - To get what O'Grady got out of what he was dealt
takes a special character. Like Brad McGee, he tried to make himself
into more than just a sprinter, and he overexerted himself by
straining to place in the high mountains - forcing his abandon in the
Vuelta - but at least he didn't destroy the rest of his season by
trying to ride for GC!

Alejandro Valverde - The top Spanish rider without a doubt, but being
duped into signing a ridiculously long and ironclad contract with
Kelme last year limited his options and eventually strained his late
season. Could have accomplished more, but he can nonetheless be very
satisfied with what he has done.

Erik Zabel - Had a far better season than his list of wins suggests.
His work ethic was best summed up in the dogged determination and
persistent riding that earned him the points classification in the
Vuelta, which brought him into the high mountains after O'Grady and
saw him challenge sprints every day to stay ahead of Valverde.

Tom Boonen - Tough as nails, and one of the season's winningest
riders. A season during which Gent-Wevelgem, a TdF stage win on the
Champs Elysees, the Tour de Picardie, and three major Belgian classics
can all be Xed from the "To Do" list is a successful season.

Oscar Freire - Won relatively little compared with some other
sprinters, but when he did, more often than not he did it by beating
Zabel at the races which seemed to have Zabel's name written all over
them, and there's something to be said for that.

Lance Armstrong - Enough said.

Funny, but probably deservedly so, you should omit world cup winner and
olympic champion Bettini, and include main rival and no-show Rebellin.

Bettini was very consistent in the world cup with 3 second places. But
then again, so had Boogerd and he isn't even ranked! I'd rather have
seconds at Amstel, LBL, Lombardy than Hamburg, San Sebastian, Zürich...
