  1. Well finally...totaly by accident... I found some fresh corn tortillias
(near where I work). So tomorrow for lunch it's chicken asparagus
quesdillias with a lime flavoured salsa and sour cream. Made at work
with my quesdillia maker. The only reason I own one is for making
quesdillias at work since there's no oven or stove on the
premise...otherwise the damn thing is usless and takes up too much
cupboard space. My cow orkers will be bringing various items...shredded
jack cheese, sliced mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes etc.
just to join the party. We all supply our own meat and I bring the
maker and the tortillias, everyone brings something, makes for a nice
    noisy lunch.

Thick cream (the can kind) and strawberries for dessert.

At least have the decency to bring some kick butt bloody marys. You can
probably sneak them into the office in a giant cooler 🙂

(laugh) You just reminded me of the old days at work, you know the day
before Christmas you'd have the grab bag and all the food, blah blah blah.
Well, you couldn't bring in booze unless it was wrapped up as a gift.
    Hello,
geniuses, fine we'll wrap up the booze and bring it in that way. The boss
would keep it on his desk in his office. We'd all have a mimosa or bloody
    mary sometime that morning.

When I worked at a place back around 1990, 3:00PM was beer time. The boss
stocked the fridge with beer. He quickly figured out this was a bad idea
since the programmers were spending the last 2 hours of the day congregating
in the kitchen, rather than coding. This same workplace is where a guy
brought us all bottles of his homemade (hic!) eggnog and we'd all cracked it
open before noon that day, prior to the office party.

The people who spoiled that for all of us were the people who sued the bar
fore serving too much and won. Now if an employee drinks too much the
    employer is liable.

    Strange world - I'm delighted I ain't going to be around forever. I don't
think I'd like to start over in today's society.

    Michael

I worked at a company that allowed us to drink on the job. We did
classified work for the aerospace industries. On the graveyard shift when
2:00 a.m. rolled around somebody would yell out "Last call!" Envelopes of
money and orders turned into beer, wine and cocktails about an hour
later. We did volumes of work each night though I don't remember how! 😉
One day the owner came in and found some workers freebasing cocaine in
the lab. That ended our drinking-on-the-job privileges.

Definitely. They used to have a big Christmas party at a local country
club, the last time they did, not only were we under hostile new management,
this woman drank so much she creamed eight cars on her way out of
the parking lot. Imagine if she got out onto the road.

At any rate, the next year the Christmas party was pretty much
crudites (sp) and dip in the cafeteria. Hello, I see where you're
coming from but that kind of party, hold it during the DAY. I am
not hanging out in the cafeteria at 5 in the afternoon, I'll just go
    home.

Hostile management was [censored] no one showed.

Way too much info for a woman who flies all over the country and already
doesn't like doing it. Freebasing isn't the same as having a couple of
cocktails, IIRC. But I don't condone (nor was my post intended to endorse)
drinking on the job. I never so much as had a beer at lunch when I was
    working.

    kili

Oh yes I believe it. And then there are other school administrators
that refuse to call the police when a develepmentally disable girl is
sexually assaulted and 'punched' in the face if she did not comply
with the little [censored] wishes. There were at least a dozen
witnesses in the auditorium watching. The administrators tried to get
the father not to call the police because the pieces of [censored]
administrators did not want the media to get wind of it. Can you
believe it? They were all fired.

    Michael

You have to ask, what in the world is *this* world coming to? It's
absolutely insane. I sometimes wish we didn't live in these times, but,
OTOH, the food is so much better! <g> (I mean, I'm so disgusted, what else
    *can* I say?)
