As I have posted previously, he has already raced in at
least two races in Italy this season, one a classic (GP
Costi degli Etruschi) and one a stage race (Giro della
Lucca). He's not exactly making a name for himself yet, but
he is considered a neo-pro, so I would assume he is being
given some appropriate challenges so that he can develop as
a racer rather than being pressured for results immediately.

He was at Etruschi, but though the race was on his calendar,
he's not among the seven Fassa riders who were eliminated
during the Giro della Lucca, nor is he the one who finished.

His roommate, also an ex mountain biker, had some nice things to say about him at bike.com. He said he reminded him of Cadel Evans...hope that doesn't mean he's going to break his collar bone three times in two years.

Wouldn't all that have been worked out before he got over
there and started training with the team? Can't see that as
being an obstacle. He was in some photos and got high marks
from Cioni over at www.bike.com. Strange he should be back
in the States at this point.

I've heard good things about him as well, Durango is a small
town. The "friend of an acquaintance" said he is amazingly
fast, but you probably already guessed that.

He was probably there on a visit--he wouldn't need a visa to
stay for 6 weeks, as long as he's not working. He was just
there riding his bike. Entering a race is another matter as
he would need a work visa, which is probably where the
problem lies.

my bet is that Ferretti would not let a rider in his stable
have visa problems. Likely is that the FB team is loaded out
for the current race schedual and TD was given the
opportunity to come home for a while.
