Tom Danielson not doing Vuelta?

From Cycling News: "Fassa Bortolo for Vuelta & Tropheo Melinda Aitor Gonzalez, Vuelta a España winner in 2002, will head the Fassa Bortolo team in September, along with sprinter Alessandro Petacchi. Dario Cioni, who rode a superb Giro d'Italia this year, will be another rider for the general classification. The remainder of the team includes Volodimir Gustov, Alberto Ongarato, Fabio Sacchi, Julian Sanchez, Guido Trenti and Marco Velo. Fassa Bortolo will also take on the late summer Italian classics, sending the following riders to the Tropheo Melinda on Thursday: Marzio Bruseghin, Massimo Codol, Tom Danielson, Luca De Angeli, Mauro Facci, Dario Frigo, Gustav Larsson and Roberto Petito." Has anyone heard why Danielson isn't on the Vuelta team? I've heard all summer about how he was preparing for it.

Yes... in print interviews, TV interviews (during the Giro in particular),
and in his online diary.

Yes... in print interviews, TV interviews (during the Giro in particular),
and in his online diary.
Reading carefully reveals he didn't ride well in Tour of Portugal and
he pulled his hamstring a week or two ago. Also, look at the list of
riders that are going, not many weak ones in there.

He has a Cyclingnews.com diary which has made this very clear for months.
He said that when he heard he was starting the Vuelta (or so he thought,
anyway), it was "music to his ears."
