  1. Well did you manage to put the Trice in a ditch Mr L?

The Denmead came with free skiing lessons for about 10 miles, towards
Stockbridge I decided a controlled crash into a bush was preferable to going
AOT-not! still my knee was nice and warm for the rest of the day

    Any others?

I bottled it. They were muttering about /sno/ on t'wireless, so I put my
head back under the pillow and slept the sleep of the just. Next Saturday I
have a 160 km in the same neck of the woods. If there is more /sno/ I shall
    Be Upset.

Just find a world that's into that kind of thing, then chain to the
floor and walk up and down on it in high heels. (Mr. Sunshine)

there is a 210 in the UK's oldest new town 3/4/05, I really should do
that to cajole my legs for the Elenith the week after. Dunno though, I
foresee arguments with the local motorised (plus a good chance of
    losing bits of/bike)

Squints. Stevenage? Already signed up for that one; have a 2 hour race the
following w/e, thus allowing a handy Excuse...

Which one's that, then? New Cumnock? New Lanark? New Galloway? Newton
Stewart? And that's just the ones within thirty miles of here...
Chester probably counts as a New Town, since it was planned on a green
fields site... in the 2nd Century AD, I think.

The new towns project was inaugurated in 1946 IIRC, My SO was living
(fortunately temporarily) in Stevenage at the time of its 40th anniversary
and they announced that it was the first one to be built. It was also where
a lot of work was done on newtown neuroses and extra amenities were hastily
added. One interesting feature I remember was that all the nice cycleable
lanes heading out of the place were un signposted once you left the town.

  7. Anyone doing Down Ampney (Wiltshire White Horses) this Saturday? I'll
be riding out there on Friday evening (drunken chavs permitting) so, as
before, look out for an over-laden purple Dawes Super G ridden by a
shortish knackered-looking old git wearing Twickenham kit.
