  1. When I first began interacting here it was simply to say that someone else's
problem had also been mine in the past. Instead of saying "Well maybe you
had a problem with low fiber while you were in ketosis, but it wasn't
ketosis itself," both Palmer and myself were charged with being trolls and
liars. I hate to say it, but I wish Palmer had had the backbone to stand up
to you people. Instead he just up and left because he felt you weren't
being kind to him. I'm not so timid. You want to attack me? Fine, but you
should be prepared for the dishes I'll prepare and throw in your faces in
return. Obviously most of you didn't expect me to dig in my heels and show
you that not everyone you attack is going to run away, and you obviously
weren't prepared for the flames you got in response to what you had dished
out to us. Serves you right. Next time you should be more careful about
who you attack as a troll. I've stood my ground and repaid offense with
offense. I need do nothing more than that. The only thing this flamewar is
doing now is turning people who don't have a dog in this fight and who might
need some help into people who won't want to come here. For their sakes,
and their sakes alone, I will hold my tongue and not flame anymore. I
propose that everyone else do the same.

  2. This is the first time I have "heard" of you, so I went back to find the
posts about which you complain. The problem is easily apparent: you are too
snarky. If someone questions your veracity, you respond with rage, total
war, and obscenities. Now, really, would you like for someone to respond to
YOUR questions of their posts in that manner?

Attitude, dude, attitude. That's the problem.

  3. This is Usenet, an incredibly public forum, thousands of people lurk
and post. We are not your neighbors and we don't have to get a long.
Some people prefer to be nice and some people don't. You can't wear
your heart on your sleeve here nor can you expect people to change by
the power of YOUR suggestion. Nice idea. Nice try. But it isn't going
to work here. If you're bothered by what people say then don't post and
leave yourself open to responses. US net is not a place for you to go
to a corner and hiss nor it is productive to don the boxing gloves
always ready to duke it out. You're no one special. You're just someone
else who happened by and thinks he can change things.... NOT!!!
If I tucked my tail between my legs, [censored] and moaned after each time
someone hurt my feelers or said something that offended me, it would
just happen all the more. I suggest you buck up, take Usenet for what
it is or don't post here cuz you're going to get your feelings hurt if
    you dont have some backbone.

Um, what do you think I'm some sort of newbie to usenet? Guess again, babe.
Instead of saying most of that old news to me, you should have directed it
to some of the people here. To me, you're just a nobody whose life or death
would mean nothing to me since I don't know you from Adam. You could be
dying from cancer, and I probably would say something nice just to be
courteous, but since I don't know you from Adam, I probably wouldn't care
less. You're just a name on a screen. However, truces have been called
before, and they have been honored. Even though you sound like someone I
could expect some harsh flames from, I'd closely monitor my spelling, if I
were you. It's almost atrocious! ;-)

Now, really, would you like for someone to respond to

    Quoted message said:

YOUR questions of their posts in that manner?

You really don't get around usenet much, do you? As a matter of fact, the
point you've missed entirely is that there are people out there who flame
just to flame in groups that exist just so they can flame away. Now that's
now me; I'm not THAT bad. However, imagine that one of those people comes
here because they need some advice and suddenly find themselves under the
gun. What exactly would you expect their response to be? "Oh please don't
say that? You're being mean to me!?" Would you expect them to run? Ignore
it? More than likely, they'll do here what they do in other groups, and if
you can't see that coming, then you really don't get around usenet much, do
you? And in answer to your question, I'm pretty good at detecting a troll
when one hops along, at least when it comes to the groups I frequent. If my
questions are attacked, it's because I designed them to draw an attack. But
that only happens when I'm in a group where I am going after someone I don't
like and want to let them know that. Most of the time I am very cordial
when I ask people questions, and I have yet to have an honest, probing
question misunderstood. So, yes, if I was asking inflammatory questions, I
would want them to respond that way.

Carol Ann, it's only the social misfits who have no compassion for
other people in real life that would say on Usenet what MDS did. It's
the opposite of what you might think; we can often tell more about a
person from their usenet postings than from meeting them in person.
Typing anonymously removes the front that we each put up in
face-to-face conversations, IMO. Those of us who care about other
people in our lives also care about people that we connect with on
    usenet.

I care a great deal about the people I meet both on and off line. But, I'm
sure there are still many others who don't feel the same way.

I know a person who really couldn't understand WHY I opened up to the people
and cared about the people online. He and I used to argue about it ALLOT!!

He turned out to be quite a bad person.
