to patch or not to patch?

if you get a leak in your tube, what do you do?

Is it worth the effort to patch it?

I patch and forget.
I use the little square self adhesive patches.
I've run on some of them over a year.
Never had a failure.
And I'm a heavyweight.

After a thread last year about how unreliable they are
I replaced a tube with eight patches on it.
Promptly flattened it in four places after a thorny ride.
This was early July.
Repatched it. Still riding on it.
I've got a few spare tubes in the car, one in the hydropak.
But I love those patches.
My wife, my kids, all riding on patched tubes.
Some of the kid's patches are at least two years old.
No problems ever.

Just my tuppence.

Me too but I save 'em up until I have enough to kill a patch kit so the
little tube of glue doesn't dry up from just one tube. I also take my
friends tubes home 'cuz he doesn't bother with patches.

I rarely get flats in So-Cal maybe one or two a year so I usually replace
the tube. When I go to Arizona and flatten more often I always patch them.
