I've got an old Bianchi road bike (1985) with 27x1 tires. It seems like the world has gone metric and left me behind. I am looking to start riding the bike to and from work and want a bit of a softer ride.
A couple questions .... Do I need to buy 27x1 tires as a replacement or can i put wider tires 27x1-1/4 on the same rims?

Will 700 wheels / tires work on that bike?
Thanks for the thoughts -- my first post.

27 1/4 should fit.....clearance should be OK. 700c wheels is a different story.
I have used 700c rims on older bikes that used to use 27 inch rims, no worries. The brake pads had to sit as far down in the slots as possible but they work.😄
