Schwalbe Stelvio's are available in 451 - high pressure (140PSI), Kevlar belted - work for me on my
Haluzak Hybrid Race

I have had really bad experience with Schwalbe Stelvio's durability wise. Another customer at my LBS
has had similar experience.

The first series of "small" Stelvios had construction problems- there's been a thread going on about
this on the bentrideronline groups, among others.

My 451 Stelvio is wearing fine- although the wheel ain't. I had a little altercation with a Chevy
van that folded the wheel. The tire stayed intact and was rideable once I stomped the wheel back
into usefulness.

I ran a 406 Stevelo on a V-REX for 2K without a flat. But then again my last flat was....well 2
years ago last spring. Hutchenson Carbon Comp 26 X 1 just came apart....it had over 2K on it. The
durable Conti Top 2000 comes to mind. I have a customer that commutes to Johns Hopkins in Baltimore
on a Ti RUSH and has NEVER had a flat. This is city road riding at its worst. A testamonial for the
tire. I have often said in the past that you can have some of both worlds but not the best of both
durability vs. weight/low crr. IMO the choice has to do with what you are willing to put up with and
the conditions you ride
in. If I commuted more and got flats I'd forgo weight/low crr for durability and getting in on time.
My beater/sometimes commuter is a BikeE AT with a Primo K on front and a Comp Pool on the rear.
However, I'd rather ride my AERO with them skinny less durable 23mm Fortezzas or 20mm Stevelos.

Maybe I'm the exception here, but I've ridden Primo Comets in 20 x 1.35
(406) and 20 x 1 1/8(451) exclusively, on the fronts of two tadpole trikes, 1 LWB bike, and 3 SWB
bikes over the past 5 years. I've always run them at 100 PSI. That's about 8,000 miles over
average roads. No punctures. One flat, due to a valve core working loose.

I have had several "hernia" flats on Primo Comets due to the tread splitting. One was on the front
OEM 37-406 Comet on my RANS Rocket at about 1500 miles, and the other two were on the 37-305 Comet
on my Sunset (mileage unknown).

I used to use a Schwalbe Marathon on the front of my Toureasy. It was a major improvement over
the Primo Comet that came with the Toureasy. The Primo would slide very easily and caused a
crash on sand.

I had Schwalbe Stelvios last summer. On one 10 days / 1300 km tour i had about four punctures,
including one where piece of glass made a big hole to the tire. I tried to ride with it, but after
about 20 km of riding in rain, some sand got into the hole and caused another puncture. Then i had
to use the spare Stelvio (they are foldable so spares can be easily carried, if you don't mind
spending 30 euros per 4 days). I cannot recommend them for touring, although they help make the bike
go fast in tailwind.

The Primo also got several flats. It also wore out in 1500 miles. It had splits and holes in it from
small square pieces of glass (from where the burglars broke car windows to get stereos 'n stuff). It
was NOT durable enough for me to ever want another. On the other hand, my buddy has had nothing but
good to say about his. He puts more miles on his, and rides in the country more. But there is
puncture vines out there too.

I looked at several things before buying the Schwalbe.. weight was one. It is heavier than the
Primo. I wanted more rubber to protect the cords from glass for my commutes.
