tire for a trainer?

My trainer rips them all to shreds, Now I just get the cheepest tire I
can find.

Likewise, I never had any problems with tyre wear on the trainer. I've
used the same cheap Ritchey slick for much more than a hundred hours and
as far as I can tell, it does not wear.

I run the rear tyre at a very high pressure (9 to 10 bar) and press the
roller against the tyre just hard enough to prevent slip after the tyre
has warmed up. Having a wheel that is radially very true probably helps
too.

I've heard very good comments from users of the Continental trainer
specific tyre. Very wear resistant and also less noise.

I think this is the key thing on trainers.

The OP was asking about rollers though, so there is not much control
over slippage.

I'm with you guys on this, I've had a tire on for almost 1000 hrs and it
has very little sign of wear.
With rollers it shouldn't make any difference unless his tires are
under-inflated or he has the resistance set really high to simulate a
hill climb.

I have had good luck with the Specialized Armadillo on my
trainer--although it's not the cheapest tire around.
