Tire choice

Are you shopping Wal-Mart or a real bike shop?

A decent shop should either have or be able to order you some sort of
serious commuter tire in that size (or a 1.5) from Continental,
Michelin, Schwalbe, Hutchinson, etc...

Those aren't really hot sellers, so even a good shop may not have a
huge in-stock selection. Most of the bikes using smooth tires in that
size today are cheap comfort bikes, hence the cheap selection.

Of course, the good tires won't be $9 a tire. <G>

I live in a blue collar town and expensive bikes and accessories have
never sold here.I plan to go mail order,it is less aggravating in the
long run.Will check the brands mentioned.Thanks.

I found the Schwalbe site and they sell on-line: both in Canada and the
USA. I even spoke with them on their toll-free telephone number.
