Whats the point of even calling it a virtual ride if youre just going to phone it in with some boring, pre-programmed route and a bunch of cheesy, overused sound effects? I mean, seriously, who thought it was a good idea to simulate the sound of a bird chirping every time you hit a certain speed threshold? Its like, come on, cant you do better than that?
And dont even get me started on the whole realistic weather thing. Newsflash: nobody wants to ride their bike in the rain, virtually or otherwise. Its miserable and its boring. Cant we just have some nice, sunny days for once? Or, I dont know, maybe some kind of futuristic, high-tech environment where the weather is always perfect and the roads are always smooth?
And whats with the obsession with realism anyway? I mean, I get it, some people like that sort of thing, but cant we have some variety? Maybe some fantasy worlds or something? Id love to ride my bike through a virtual version of Middle Earth or something. That would be awesome. But no, instead were stuck with the same old boring, realistic environments that are just as dull as the real thing.
So, I guess my question is, whats the most creative, out-of-the-box virtual ride youve ever done? And please, for the love of all that is holy, dont give me any of that oh, I rode a virtual Tour de France nonsense. I want to hear about something truly unique and interesting. Something that actually makes me want to get on my bike and ride.
