Time Out sexual stats

The ladies have more attractive lycra clad bottoms than men, so a driver who
is watching the aforementioned rear end is hardly going to run into her, but
pity the nondescript male cyclist the driver hasn't seen whilst his
attention is on the girl.

Simple, on average, men are more aggressive, and will take more risks,
and go faster than a female rider.
E.G. thinking they can beat that car to the junction, but not quite
making it, while a woman will just sit behind the car.
No flames please, just talking of averages.

risk compensation. As we know, drivers try harder to squish you if youre
wearing a helmet or reflective clothing, as you look less vulnerable.

If you're a girly, drivers will (a) give you a wider birth than hulking
great crash-proof bloke riders (b) many will slow down for a letch.

I demand equality! I demand that drivers watch my butt wiggling as well.

Is that the peer-reviewed Time Out scientific journal, or the 'whats on'
listings magazine ?

Are we talking reported accidents, unreported accidents, hospitalisations,
insurance claims, or totally made up figures?

Accident incidence is dependent on average journey length too - no need for
acrobatics.

Oh, and sometimes men make stupid miscalculations on risk, whereas women are
(probably) more likely to be risk averse.

You might like to try out the hypothesis that some drivers are more
considerate of women cyclists. It's certainly true of some young
thugs. My son's girl friend was once yanked from her bicycle by some
young thugs who started to beat her up, and then profusely apologised
and helped her back onto her bicycle when they discovered she was a
girl.

I took the survey and admitted to my one (self-inflicted) accident.
New Brompton, forgot unfold the pedal, hopped on, zipped out into the
road and promptly fell over! Could have been worse, nobody ran me
over. . .
