Time Helix Steel

i have a time helix steel frame.
it is made from columbus neuron tubing and has fluted chainstays and main tubes that are oval at one end going to round at the other end, a stiking looking frame. it rides fantastically and i love it. very smooth ride as you would expect from steel.
weight is 1.7kg's, but this frame flies and feels much lighter, i sold my aluminium frame and now use this as my good race bike kitted out with sram force/rival groupset. i got it 2nd hand on ebay for £75.00, best money i ever spent on a frame.
if you can get hold of one buy it, you won't be disapointed.

You have a great bike there. They are pretty rare and just a superb ride. I was at the National handmade bike show in Austin Tx and while talking to the owner of Cyfac discovered that Cyfac built these bikes for Time. If you don't know Cyfac is probably one of the best builders in the world and have built many bike for the pros that were the re-stickered with the sponsoring team's emblems. Don't part with that frame. I used mine for a training bike for a few months ,It only goes out for special occasions now!

hello, thought i'd let you know that thanks to your advice i contacted cyfac and they confirmed what you said, cheers. i have since sent the frame back to cyfac and had it refurbished and resprayed. it only comes out in the summer months now - what a bike!

hello, it's a bit of a change from the original, mainly silver with "cyfac" and "Time helix steel" in green. also has Time decal on top tube in yellow. "cyfac" is on down tube and on each chainstay and cyfac logo on the head tube. got it built now with Time Sprint carbon fork, campagnolo veloce gears, miche primato brakes, race face cadence chainset. bars and stem, fizik tundra 2 saddle and easton orion 2 wheels. its the best bike ever![IMG]cyclingforums.com700Open ↗[/IMG]

Very nice. What did the paint cost and how long did it take? Was the original of pearlized White with different color blues in it?

thanks, yes original was white and blue/purple. my frame had a dint in the down tube which cyfac also sorted out for me. it took a couple, maybe 3 weeks from posting frame to getting it back - fairly quick. originally quoted 400 euros plus postage - too much i thought. so managed to haggle a bit with Cyfac and settled on 300 euros with postage included. although the frame is only 2 colours cyfac dont use decals, the green on the frame is done with masking and spraying the paint to form the "decal". the finish is excellent and i am well pleased with the result. here is original, the same as yours i assume?[IMG]cyclingforums.com700Open ↗[/IMG]

Shame they couldn't take it back to its original. Still looks really really great. That is exactly the model I have. I've only seen one other one ever which was on sale on eBay in Hawaii. It is the best steel frame I have ever ridden. The owner of Cyfac actually offered to buy the bicycle from me to put in their museum. To think I originally bought the frame to use as a rain bike. i saw the one on ebay in hawaii aswell. cyfac could have re-done the frame as per original, i just wanted something different. i think the original would have cost a lot more - a bit more intricate. i could never use the bike as a rain bike either, it's the best bike ive ever had by a long way, thanks, james
